The market for Asbestos Surveyors has slowed down over the past year. Most of our clients seem to be replenishing staff rather than take them on for further expansion. Again,there has been an increase in demand for applicants in the South East for a number of high profile contracts. Candidates are expected to be more flexible in terms of working further a field, as well as getting involved in other aspects of Asbestos Consultancy. For candidates looking to get into the market, it not probably advisable, as the market is highly saturated, and salaries in general have come down.. There seems to be a lot of contracts involving re inspection and Type 3 surveys. Many businesses from small to large are generally struggling to sustain growth. Although a minority of clients are winning major contracts in the UK, in commercial and local authority. Some of our clients are now looking at opportunities abroad, and generally need more flexible staff. It would be adviseable for any candidates to get further all round experience in Analyst/Project Management, together with the p403, p404. This will them make them more attractive to employers, and salary expectations, would further increase. For candidates looking at opportunities long term, look at the companies who have long term plans, and can offer further training, and career progression, and relevant qualifications.
